Designing Your Website

After you have your Domain Name and space on our servers, it's time to design your website.

We've seen a lot of people agonize over this.  It doesn't have to be hard, and in fact can be quite easy to do once you lay out a plan.  Here are some simple steps to follow, which will allow you to get your first-pass design done, and then tweak it to your liking:

  1. The easiest way to organize what it is you want to do is to look at someone else's website.  Make note of what you like, dislike, want and need.  Why re-invent the wheel? Keep a list of the websites you like, which part you like, and then organize those into your site.
  2. Storyboard your design.  Take separate paper pages and lay out your site.  Page 1 will be the introductory page (Name, address, purpose, logo - keep it simple) with clickable links to your other pages.  Pages 2 through N will have the guts of your site, pictures, text, descriptions, ordering pages and so on.
  3. Are there pre-packaged programs that will work for you?  Some industries have already developed programs specifically designed for that purpose, and you may want to take advantage of this.  Paying a couple of hundred dollars for a ready-to-go program is often way less expensive than developing it yourself.  And you'll have it immediately instead of months from now when your program -might- be completed.

Webpage Editing Tools

HDR supports almost all HTML Editors, such as Dreamweaver, Macromedia Contribute and direct HTML editing.

We do not support Microsoft's Front Page program.  Designs created with it may not work due to difficulties with Front Page extensions. Plus, Microsoft no longer supports Front Page.

We'll Build It For You
